Where is HERE? It's a place where her people are too superficial to understand concepts far below the surface. I wrote a very short story in a symbolic style in the last post; almost no one understood the concept I had intended to convey. Even some put me in charge of writing on erotic and porno topics. I cannot understand how they could refer to the poem, I had written in, as an erotic subject. In my point of view people, who are light and shallow, can never go to the deep. They don't have enough knowledge so it perhaps is too difficult for them to decode such a symbolic and allegorical story. I don't know how such people will judge about Bitter Moon made by Roman Polanski; they likely jump to conclusion that significant movie is a nice sample of Porno movies. When "almost no one" understands your symbols you should first doubt in your writing quality, rather than your readers' understanding. I believe symbols are understood as a symbol either when they are very obvious or when the place they are appearing in is a common place for symbols (and your blog is not such a place).
